If you’re looking for a chili cheese pizza that is suitable for vegans, vegetarians, dairy-free and low-cholesterol diets but still tastes every bit as delicious as the original recipe, this is your recipe. It’s everything you love about the flavor profile of chili cheese fries but on a pizza - layers of leftover homemade chili, crispy french fries, and non-dairy cheddar cheese in each bite.
Prep: Cook the fries in the air fryer or oven according to the package directions.
Assemble the pizza: Preheat the oven to 475F and stretch your pizza dough to fit your pizza pan, cast iron pan, or pizza stone. Spread 1.5 cups of the chili evenly over the crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge. Then, add 3/4 cups of the vegan cheese. and top that with the fries. Spread the cooked fries evenly over the crust vegan cheese and top with remaining chili and then cheese.
Bake the pizza: Bake your pizza for 15-20 minutes, stopping to rotate the pan once halfway through. It’s ready when the crust is golden and the vegan cheese has melted.
Finishing touches: Remove and let cool on your cutting board or wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing. Before serving, top with sliced green onions.
Notes
Use a nice sturdy pizza dough for the crust. There are a lot of toppings on this chili pizza recipe, so you’ll want a good foundation. We used our homemade pizza dough which fits that bill. If you’re using pre-made pizza dough, I would choose one that is sold frozen.
Always check the ingredients on your pizza dough before purchasing. A lot of store-bought pizza dough is vegan-friendly, but every now and then you’ll run into one that uses eggs or dairy.
